The answer is paradoxical—it's both. In a sense, our existence is destined because everything that happens in the universe on a larger scale is predetermined by the laws of physics. Essentially, it's a question of free will, which doesn't exist according to the laws of physics. On the other hand, our existence is a coincidence in the sense of mathematical chance, according to the Many Worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics. This theory suggests that our universe is just one of many in a multiverse, meaning our existence is not unique but merely a mathematical possibility. So, if we think about life, it's just a rare combination of atoms that come together and write articles on Medium.
